Hobhouse Court shortlisted for New London Awards 2020

Between town and countryside, Luxembourg, LU

June 2020: We have submitted our first planning application in Luxembourg for an apartment building.

It is also our first planning submission during the lockdown. Working remotely, our very dedicated team has closely collaborated with locally based consultants and an exceptional client.

The site at the edge of the city centre affords splendid views of a gently sloping meadow with expansive views to a valley beyond. The site forms part of a larger planned development with very good transportation links. The city intends to build a tramway extension that will make journeys from the building to historic city centre in five minutes or so.

The four storey building will include two densely planted gardens: one on the rooftop, the other along the street. They will complement south facing exterior communal spaces on the ground floor.

The apartments with chilled ceilings at a very generous 2.9m height will provide an abundance of natural ventilation and daylight and have large private terraces. Several of the apartments have triple aspect orientation. Simple and robust construction details with lower maintenance requirements are proposed. Approximately one fifth of the total habitable area will be built of CLT construction.

May 2020: We are honoured to be included in the Architect Design Services framework created by Southwark Council and LHC. ‘The majority of these firms are not on other frameworks, and gives all London Contracting Authorities access to high quality practices of all sizes to deliver the innovation that London expects’ LHC stated.

O4a featuring in FT article on "Why the balcony is back and bigger than ever"

April 14 2020: FT's Architecture and Design critic Edwin Heathcote discusses how "big balconies have recently emerged not only as an amenity but as the defining characteristic of an emerging architecture" in France. Featuring our O4a, Batignolles housing project, the article reflects on "Brisac Gonzalez’s simple moves, like the diamond grid balcony fronts on the practice’s building, [which...]create a distinctive, elegant appearance without veering too far into self-conscious branding".

Nature and art at the heart of the project Allée du Parc, Massy, FR

March 2020: We are collaborating with French artist Eva Jospin who is designing the façade pattern of our mixed-used project in Vilgénis. The artwork is directly inspired by the surrounding nature and will cover the exposed concrete of the façade in its entirety. 
This collaboration was borne out of the developer Emerige’s pledge to the French Ministry of Culture’s charter ‘ one building, one work ’.

A piece of work by Eva currently features at the Hayward Gallery in London until 17 May 2020 as part of the group show “ Among the Trees ”.

November 2019: Our project Lot O4A in the Eco-District Clichy-Batignolles in Paris has been shortlisted for the Surface Design Awards 2020 in the Affordable Housing Category. The winner will be announced on Thursday 13 February 2020 at a ceremony at the Design Centre in London.

25 October 2019: Our Project O4A in the ZAC Clichy-Batignolles in Paris has just won GOLD at the WAN Awards 2019 in the Mixed-Used Category. 
We are delighted that this ambitious and socially-focused public scheme was rewarded with such a prize.

October 2019: We broke ground in Massy near Paris and celebrated by planting a magnificent magnolia to mark the start of our mixed-used project Allée du Parc.

October 2017 - Along with French housing developer Emerige, we have submitted an 11 000m2 scheme for an invited competition consisting 134 affordable and market apartments with retail space and nursery in Vilgenis, a suburb of Paris.

18 Blackfriars Office Building, London

July 2017 - We have secured planning consent for a 34 storey office building with a rooftop restaurant. The building forms part of the 18 Blackfriars mixed use scheme, where Wilkinson Eyre as lead consultant is designing the other buildings, which include housing, hotel and music venue
